Admissions

We are always delighted to see new faces at Pen-y-Fai CiW Primary school and we will be glad to show you around our school if you are interested in joining us. If you would like to do this please contact our school office who will discuss this opportunity with you.

Bridgend County Borough Council assign school places and you should apply for your child’s school place online where possible. It’s quick and easy to do, and an email address is all you need.
You can click here to do this.
Nursery places and Reception at Pen-y-Fai CiW Primary School
Nursery education is non-statutory; however, in Wales, children are entitled to a free, part time, early-years education place from the start of the term following their third birthday.
In Pen-y-Fai Primary we offer rising 3 places for these children and a full time nursery for those children of nursery age.

We know that choosing the right school for your child is a big decision and we will be fortunate if you choose to apply for a place at our nursery.
We aim to make the transition to our school a smooth process where you and your child can meet our staff and visit before starting school.
We also hold an annual open evening for prospective parents where you will meet Mr Street, the head teacher. Who will discuss the school, our aims and core values with you before going on a tour of our school building and meeting the teachers and support staff.

An application for our nursery must be completed by the parents/carers of eligible children for admissions to nursery classes. A child will only be permitted to attend a nursery class at a LA-maintained school if the relevant application has been submitted and the local authority has formally offered a place at that school. This can be done on the BCBC website.
Please note that although nursery education is non-statutory, the local authority expects all children who are offered a part-time place to attend for five half days per school week and all children who are offered a full-time place to attend for five full days per school week.
It is important to note that children who are admitted to a part-time nursery class of a LA-maintained school do not have an automatic right to a full-time nursery place at the same school. Children who are admitted to a full-time nursery class of a LA-maintained school do not have an automatic right to a reception year place at the same school.
